Prediction and extreme word order
We chose Swiss German because verbs can be significantly delayed. Legacy translation systems wait to hear the verb before constructing any output. Babelbit's Predictive Semantic Modelling, just like a native speaker, translates before having to hear every word ... provided it has enough context.
"We were about to escape, when Jim - always nervous - jammed the key in the lock".
In English, Jim might start explaining "I broke the lock - turned it too hard, in a panic", but in Swiss German, the word "ufbroche" [broke] came right at the end. Because we know the story, we can guess he is talking about what just happened.
Notice that the original starts "Ich ha...", and Babelbit starts to translate "I have...", then on hearing "Schlos" (lock), watch it change its mind as it predicts the meaning and creates the next phrase in English, French and Chinese: "I broke the lock" before even hearing the the word "ufbroche" (broken).
